The Power of 48-Hour Fasting Protocol

Today I'm jumping into the exciting world of prolonged fasting.
I'm going to discuss a fasting protocol that's been proven time after time, within all my group coaching journeys, to be super powerful and fun, we call it the PowerfulME Rock 'n Rollin 48's.

What is a 48-Hour Fasting Protocol?

A 48-hour fast involves abstaining from all calorie intake for a full two days. This means no food intake whatsoever, only water with correct electrolytes, herbal teas, and black coffee are allowed. It's a form of one of our extended fasting protocols that we practice and incorporate into our Fasting Fit Lifestyle. 
It pushes the body into a deeper state of ketosis, where it begins burning stored fat for fuel instead of glucose from food.

Why is it Super Powerful?

One of the most powerful benefits of our Rock 'n Rollin 48-hour fasts is the significant increase in fat loss and magical process called autophagy. This is a cellular process that is responsible for cleaning out damaged cells and regenerating newer, healthier ones. This rejuvenation leads to improved longevity, youthfulness and overall health.

By the 24-hour mark of a powerful fast, glycogen stores in the body are now depleted. The body then begins relying on its fat stores for energy. This powerfully accelerates fat loss compared to a shorter fasting window.

When crushing prolonged fasting protocols it enhances insulin sensitivity, which is vitally important for our metabolic health.
Improved insulin sensitivity means better blood sugar control and reduced risk of type 2 diabetes.

Many individuals including myself experience extreme heightened mental clarity, focus and a feeling of euphoria during these type fasts. This is attributed to the increased levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that promotes brain health and cognitive function.

Also, prolonged fasting triggers a process called "immune cell recycling". This process skyrockets our immune system and improves its ability to fight off infections and diseases.


Important Notes To Jot Down

- Staying perfectly hydrated is crucial during a 48-hour fast. Drink plenty of water with the correct amounts of electrolytes to prevent dehydration.
- Incorporating regular walks not only encourages the body to use stored fat for energy, but also releases endorphins and serotonin, which improves our mood, provides relaxation and reduces any type of stress levels.
- Always listen to your body when you need to rest and when you can incorporate an extra push of body workouts.
