The Lowdown on Fasting & Pooping

Today I'm jumping into one of the less glamorous (but super important) aspects of Fasting,..... POOPING!!

Yep, that's right, we're talking bowel movements, bathroom breaks, number twos, whatever you want to call it! It’s all part of the journey, and I want to make sure that you’re ready for whatever your gut decides to do (or not do) while you’re Fasting 😊

LETS GET THE FASTING POOPING MYSTERY UNDERSTOOD AND SOLVED.
When you’re fasting, the body’s digestion naturally slows down, and one's usual poop schedule might take a detour or in this case a break. Let me share a few examples what you'll probably experience:

1. Less "Frequent" Pooping: It's because you're not eating solid foods, you're fasting with no food intake. With no solid food coming in, your digestive system has less waste to eliminate. Don’t be surprised if you’re not visiting the porcelain throne as often. And please understand, this is totally normal for many individuals!

2. Ghost Poops: Lol, I know this sounds funny, but it happens. You might feel the urge to "go", but when you do, there’s barely anything there. These “phantom poops” happen because your body is efficient at reabsorbing what little waste there is.

3. Different Odours: If you do "go", don’t be alarmed if things smell a little… well,....kinda off. Your body’s breaking down fats for energy, which creates a totally different odour. It’s just your body doing its natural thang!

4. Woo-Hoo The Return of the Poop: Once you break your fast and start eating again, expect things to return to normal, or even make up for lost time - brace yourself!
Be gentle with your digestive system; reintroduce foods slowly and with much care - Advice: Eat Slowly!

IMPORTANT: 🚫 What NOT To Do During a Fast

Now that we’ve got the basics all noted down, let’s talk about what to avoid:

1. Don’t Panic About No Pooping: If you’re not pooping as often, it’s okay! Your body isn’t malfunctioning. You're not eating, which means it’s just in a different set-mode. As long as you’re feeling good, then there’s no need to worry.

2. Don’t Overdo the Fiber: It might be tempting to chug down fiber supplements to “get things moving,” but that's the very worst thing you can do, it will actually backfire on the situation. Too much fiber without enough water will cause terrible bloating, discomfort, and constipation.

3. Stay Far Away From Laxatives: Laxatives are a NO-GO zone during a Fast. It’ll mess with your electrolyte balance and cause dehydration, two things you most definitely don’t want while Fasting powerfully and confidently.

4. Don’t Forget to Hydrate: Electrolyte Water and herbal teas, are your best friends. They keep things running smoothly & comfortably in your body, including your digestive system.

PRO TIPS FOR SUPER POOP MANAGMENT

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate with Electrolytes: Keeping your water intake up with proper electrolytes added. This helps keep everything moving, even if you’re not eating.
2. Gentle Body Movements: Light exercise like walking and full body weight workouts help stimulate your digestive system and keep things regular.
3. Herbal Teas: Teas like peppermint or ginger teas soothe your stomach and aid digestion without disrupting your fast.
4. Black Coffee: A freshly brewed cup of plain black coffee in the morning will help stimulate your digestive system and get things moving.
